Another take on "All You Need Is Love" or just a purely self-evidencing masterpiece in its own right?

I'm not toally sure; all I know is from the first chord/note/whatever on that hammond organ, I was intrigued. As that one revved on up, the song exploded before me, dazzlingly but of course (as with many Pearl Jam songs) somewhat incomprehensibly, though always, still, intriguingly; knowing the lyrics of course helps greatly.

The refrain is, among many, surely a favorite of mine -

Hold me, and make it the truth That when all is lost there will be you Cause to the universe I don't mean a thing And there's just one word I still believe And it's love.

As though it said - without you & love, i would be nothing. That is of course flagrant implicature-work, with (some) liberty taken of course, but not far, I would say, from what one can and perhaps was meant to infer.

(The hammond organ, by the way, is easily among my favorite instruments of all time--along with any organ, of course. Here it is used quite elegantly; and just fucking ROCKINGly, to be sure.)

This song...it means a lot to me. It sums up my every failure--at least every failure that ever counted, ever meant anything to me, to lose. And how every time I promise to be different, promise not to forget (again?), promise to change & grow,--only to fail, again.
